I have been living in Birmingham since August 2014 and I always wanted to try new things in the city but never could find the places. I wish I knew of the cool hole in the wall places back then. Recently, I discovered it is never too late for adventures in the city. For the past few weeks my beautiful friend, Renay, and I have been on a journey in the city of Birmingham. Below I will provide you guys a list of “out of the ordinary” restaurant’s in Birmingham that I recommend you try. I hope you enjoy and give at least ONE of the places a try this summer!
SoHo Social : Wonderful appetizers, good deals, and great staff. I would suggest going on a Tuesday, as they have tacos for cheap. They also have game nights on Sunday’s.
Carrigan’s : This restaurant has a rooftop, along with great deals throughout the week. My friend’s and I went on a Wednesday and they had $10 breakfast w/ mimosa. I will upload a picture of it, and if it does not make you want to go then i do not know what will.
Sky Castle : You guys, I went to this place 3 times in one week. That is how amazing it is. The staff and the vibe here is one that will keep you going to this place. On top of that, the food is phenomenal here. The catfish, grits, and greens will leave you wanting more. They have these couches that sit in front of a big screen TV if you are in the mood to sit back and relax with friends or a significant other. I HIGHLY recommend you try this place. I fell in love with it.
Babalu’s : This place is a little on the expensive end, however, it is worth it to eat here. I like the atmoshphere and the food is amazing. The shrimp and grits are my favorite. However, the salmon and rice is pretty good too.
Los Compadres : Do you love Taco Tuesday? Well guess what?! Couldn’t get enough of tacos on tuesday… this place has deals for college students on THURSDAY’s. $1 margaritas, $1.50 tacos, and $2 domestic beers. Yes, this is only for college students on Thursday’s w/ ID. Thank me later. P.s. They also have $1 margaritas on Wednesday’s for all people.
El Barrio : Obviously, high end Mexican restaurants are our thing. This place has great everything. From the chips&salsa to the interior design. When you get paid and want to splurge, go to this place. You will leave satisfied and full.
Redmont Bar : Do you like to socially drink? Yes? this is your place. The rooftop bar and lounge is one of Birmingham’s most beautiful bar. With a full view of the city, wonderful staff (Shoutout to Tracy, Chris, and Josh; best bartenders ever), and great drinks. You cannot help but to be happy and tipsy here.
Slice : Wine Wednesday’s are here and in full effect. Who does not love half off on a bottle of wine? Let me tell you, every one loves half off on a bottle of wine.
Grille29 : Stressed spelled backwards is desserts. With a nice selection of delicious treats i would rank their desserts 20 out of 10. That is how amazing it is. Thank you Ms. Tracy for telling me about this place. I have not tried their food, but by how good their desserts are, I am sure their food is even better. They also have mimosa’s on Saturday morning at the low price of 29¢ MIMOSAS 10 – 11 AM & $3 MIMOSAS 11 AM – 2 PM.
Pizitz Food Hall : Everything about this food hall screams culture. I love how they have different restaurants that are different from your regular chicken, burgers, and fries. If you are ever in the mood to try something different I would recommend this place. They have a variety of choices. Click the name and it will show you a list of the restaurants located in the food hall.
Thank you for reading my post. I hope you found it helpful and try one of the places on the list! Have a beautiful day!
